Diwali Gift by Indian Railways: New Rajdhani between Mumbai-Delhi to Cut Travel Time

Indian Railways gives a Diwali gift to its passengers. The busy Mumbai-Delhi route will have a new cheaper and faster Rajdhani express. It would cut down the time travelled between the cities tremendously and also it is less expensive as compared to the existing fares. The New Rajdhani would have Hazrat Nizamuddin and Bandra as the terminating stations.

The second ac and third ac fares for this special Rajdhani train would be 19% less expensive than the existing Mumbai Rajdhani express. The travel time for the existing Rajdhani express is about 15 hours and 50 mins. This travel time would be reduced to 13 hours, by the new Rajdhani express, saving around 2 hours of your journey time.

A railway authority said that the new Rajdhani express would be introduced as a tri-weekly special service and shall provide faster and better connectivity between both the cities. The service of this special train would commence from October 16.

The Railway ministry also quoted that this special train would be launched on an experimental basis for three months, to gather the public response to the concept of a stable increase in prices instead of a flexi-fare.

The train would halt only in Kota, Surat and Vadodara railway stations. The railway authorities also said that the speed of the train would be increased to 130 kmph and run by two locomotives. The power of the locomotives would be 5,400 horsepower each.
